Saptarang'24: Fest Of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College

Vasant Utsav is a festival where Spring Blossoms into Celebration. And guess what? You have the perfect occasion to celebrate this festival at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College's upcoming cultural fest SAPTARANG"24. Introducing Saptarang

Saptarang is the Annual Cultural fest of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College and typically spans two days. It has gained a reputation as one of the most impressive events in the Delhi University festival calendar. It would be a day including Music, Dance, Conventional Debate, Wall Painting, Fashion Show, and with competitions to test your talent and performances to appease your heart.

This year, they have come up with the theme "Vasant Utsav". Vasant Utsav, also known as Vasanta Mahotsava or Basant, is a vibrant cultural festival that celebrates the arrival of spring in Indian tradition. So, you can come here to celebrate the vibrancy of life and the promise of spring.

Where Is It?

The fest will be held on the campus of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College. The nearest metro station is Chirag Delhi Metro Station. It’s an underground metro station located on the Pink Line of the Delhi Metro. The distance between Chirag Delhi Metro Station and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College is approximately 950 meters.

What Are You In For?

तर्क-ए-युद्ध: Conventional debate

Conventional Debate Rules -

• Each team will consist of 2 members with one member speaking for the motion and the other speaking against the motion.
• The participants will be given 3 minutes for their speech and 1 minute for interjections.
• Motions will be provided 24 hours prior to the competition.
• It is a Bilingual competition. Hindi and English both are allowed.
• Judges' decisions will be final and binding.
• Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies and certificates.

URBAN CANVAS: Wall Painting Competition

Wall Painting Competition Rules -

• Multiple teams from a single college can participate.
• The event will be held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh college on 2nd may, 2024.
• THEME: Freedom fighters/Freedom struggle.
• The event will be divided into two rounds. The First Round requires a submission of a rough layout of your painting.
• The qualified students will proceed for a painting competition on the 2nd may, 2024.
• Deadline: Submission of entries for the first round will close on 25th April, 2024. Approved entries will be allowed to compete in the final competition.
• Each team must consist of 3-4 members. Time Limit: Each team will be given 6 hours to complete the painting. (12:00-6:00pm)
• The display of controversial or triggering ideas will result in instant disqualification of the team.
• Teams must follow the same Wall Painting theme as the submitted art piece. Extreme deviations will result in disqualification.
• All teams are requested to bring their own painting materials
• Winners will be judged on the basis of Innovation, neatness and delivery of concept. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
• The decision of the judges will the final and binding.
• Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies and certificates.

राग-रंग: Solo And Group Singing Competition

Solo Singing Rules -

• All participants need to submit an unedited video of duration 3 minutes for consideration in the first round. Make sure that access to the link is enabled.
• Participants will get 4+2 minutes (including mic check)on stage in the final round. Exceeding the time limit would lead to negative marking.
• Electronic Tanpuras are permitted along with accompanying instruments.
• Karaoke is not allowed.
• Bandish should be in Semi-Classical, light music, Folk and Sufi genre. Bollywood songs are not allowed.
• On-the-spot registration will not be allowed.
• The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
• The Final Round will be conducted in the college on 1 May 2024.
• Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.

नृत्यविद: Solo And Group Dance Competition

Group Dance Rules -

Preliminary Round

• Only two entries per college are allowed.
• Participants must submit their recorded videos.
• Only Indian folk dance forms like Garba, Dandiya, Ghoomar, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, etc are allowed.
  Time limit for the Prelims video submission should be 4-5 minutes.
• Video must be shot in landscape mode with minimum editing.
• Deadline: 25th April, 2024 (11:59 PM)

Final Round

• The performances will be held in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College.
• Team strength: 8 to 12 members.
• Time limit: 7 to 10 minutes (including introduction and stage setting) 4. Usage of fire, water, powder, and flowers is strictly prohibited.
• Obscenity in costume or performance, disrespecting the sentiments of any community will lead to immediate disqualification.
• The music must be authentic folk. Any mashup/fusion will lead to immediate disqualification.
• The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
• The Final Round will be conducted in the college on 1 May, 2024.
• Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.

GLAMGALA: Fashion Walk

Fashion Walk Rules -

• The competition is divided into two rounds.
• For the first round, participants should send us a preliminary video of 2 minutes of their performance.
• Qualifications for round 2 will be based on this video.
• The preliminary video must be submitted by 25th April 2024.
• The qualified teams will get to physically perform on the day of the fest.
• Creativity and Originality in designs is encouraged.
• The runway presentation should not exceed the Time limit (2 minutes).
• Music should be provided beforehand.
• Vulgarity is strictly prohibited. Any form of obscenity will lead to disqualification.
• Participants will be judged based on costume, theme, creativity, and body language.
• Participants must bring all necessary props and equipment for their performance.
• Judges' decisions will be final and binding.
• Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.

MUKHAKRITI: Face Painting Competition

Theme - COSMOS

Date - 01 May, 2024

Time - 12:oo pm to 1:30 pm

Venue - SBSEC Campus

Rules And Regulations -

• Participants must bring their own face painting colors and materials.
• Each participant must form a team of two individuals.
• Participants are not allowed to use their phones or any electronic devices during the competition.
• The competition will have a strict time limit of 1.5 hours.
• Make sure to reach the venue at least 1 hour prior to the competition.
• It is mandatory to bring a student college ID card, entry will be given only to those who have their ID.
• The decisions of the judges would be final.
• Winners will get exciting cash prizes and certificates.

RUPANTIRIT: Best Out Of Waste

Rules and Regulations -

• Only Individual participations are allowed.
• Participants are required to use only waste or recyclable materials to create their projects.
• The time limit will be 1 hour and 30 minutes to show their creativity and 5 minutes to talk about the same.
• It is open for all colleges and universities.
• Waste materials could be anything like bottles, newspapers, cardboard, old CDs, or any other second-hand items.
• No use of mobile phones is allowed during the competition.
• Decisions of the judges will be final.
• Winners will be declared based on creativity, utilization of resources, eco-friendly, design, and presentation.

Saptarang'24 is only open to all DU students. All the attendees must have a physical copy of their college ID Card as without it, entry will be denied. So, DU students get ready to soak up all the fun!
